STUDIO WORK

Studio Work is a creative pastime of mine, and I enjoy working with a variety of mediums. Printmaking has been a passion of mine since high school and learning the history of Graphic design through this medium has always been fun. I work on a variety of topics throughout my work, often related to my identity as a Queer and trans individual, while reflecting on my childhood experiences. More lighthearted work often relates back to my passion for space and space travel. Recently, I have been spending more time expanding on my illustrative skills using Photoshop and hope to use these new skills in my design work when applicable.

Flower Boy Depicts a Black man wearing a colorful floral shirt with flowers in his hair, both rendered with primary colors. His face and skin are rendered realistically with colored pencils.

Flower Boy Pt. 1 is a mixed media illustration dedicated to understanding how men of color are perceived, and specifically how they are often not allowed to be feminine. I had the honor of this work being exhibited at the Tweed Museum of Art, and at the We All Belong Show held by the Art and Design Department of the University of Minnesota Duluth.

As a graphic designer, I have always been fascinated with the fundamental techniques involved in printmaking. I love to learn more about the history of graphic design through this medium, and have explored everything from silk screen to lithography prints.

A relief woodblock print of a human made of a black silhouette with white veins, their arms are held near their chest over a white heart, and swirling lines surround them in the background.
A lithography print of Gene Cernan, last man on the moon. Around him is part of Heather Christle's poem from her book Heliopause.
You're Too Close is a self portrait by Mads Reineke done in charcoal, the portrait is intimate and places the viewer directly in front of their face. Their eyes are bright yellow, and behind them are abstracted bathroom tiles. This is the piece hung at the Tweed Gallery at UMD.
